Dear MRCS Families,
It’s May 1st, which means it is officially Walkathon Month! Our Raisely fundraising pages are now live, and we are ready to begin our journey toward our $65,000 goal.

Getting Started & The Raisely Platform
Each student is heading home today with flyers featuring a QR code and link to share with friends and family. If you need extras, please stop by the school office!
Throughout the month of May, all donations will be processed through Raisely, the trusted online platform we successfully used last year. This allows you to easily share your child’s donation page with family, friends, and coworkers via email or social media—no need to collect cash or paper pledge forms!
- Registration: If you have not signed up yet, please search your inbox for emails from Edwin Harris regarding registration.
- The $150 Challenge: We are challenging each student to raise at least $150, but you can easily edit and increase this goal on your child’s personal profile page!
- Multiple Children: If you use the same email for multiple children, one name will appear as the “main” account holder for login purposes—this is just back-end logistics. Rest assured, when donors search for your children, they will each have their own individual page attached to their specific classroom.
Milestones & Motivators
Our staff members have stepped up with some hilarious “Milestone Motivators”—the more we raise, the more “wacky” things our staff will do! Keep an eye on the Monday Updates and our social media “thermometer” to track our progress. We will also have weekly challenges where students can win prizes and be entered into draws for hitting specific fundraising levels.
The Big Milestones
$10,000 – Mr. Yuen dyes his hair
$20,000 – The Gr 2/3 teachers will be sprayed with Silly String for 2 minutes
$30,000 – Ms. Spyksma has to do a cold plunge
$40,000 – Ms. Callaghan & Mrs. Fouad have to learn and perform a Tik Tok dance
$50,000 – Ms. Sheridan and Mrs. Haynes perform a lip sync battle in assembly
$60,000 – Ms. Lius & Mr. Ketchum do a hot ones challenge with trivia questions
$65,000 – Mr. Flokstra, Mrs. Sowerby & Mr. Vilayil will be pied in the face
Weekend Challenge
This weekend, we are challenging students to raise $50! By raising at least $50 between Friday and Sunday, your name goes into a draw for an MRCS water bottle. We will make the draw and announce the winner Monday morning!
Creativity Challenge
Additionally, over the month of May, there will be a “creativity” challenge. Students who fundraise with a creative idea like selling freezies, car washes, bake sales, etc., will be entered into a draw for a $25 Cineplex gift card. To be considered, please email a photo and a description of how your child is fundraising to our events coordinator, Emily Crase (). The name will be drawn at the end of May.
Walkathon Event Logistics
- Date: Friday, May 29 | 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (followed by a celebratory assembly).
- The Route: Our main route is 5km, while Kindergarteners will walk a modified 2km path. A map and schedule will be sent home closer to the date.
- The Grand Finale: We will announce our grand total, award prizes, and host our “Milestone Motivator” events at our all-school chapel on June 9.
Community Highlight: Loving Our Neighbors
In the spirit of Acts 20:35—“It is more blessed to give than to receive”—MRCS has chosen to tithe 10% of all proceeds to the Ridge Meadows Hospital Foundation. This is a beautiful opportunity for our students to serve and support the healthcare teams and equipment that care for our local community. Find out more about the Foundation.
We Need You!
This event is only possible with our amazing volunteers. If you are available to help on May 29, please fill out the volunteer form here or reach out to Emily Crase.
If you have questions regarding the Raisely site, please contact Edwin Harris. For all other questions, feel free to reach out to Emily Crase.
Let’s make this a month to remember!
Warmly,
The Community Engagement and Development Team
