Dear Families,
Here is what’s happening at MRCS for the week of October 28.
1. Photo Retakes
Tomorrow, October 29, we will be having photo retakes in the gym. Please dress with your best smile!
2. Fall AGM & Town Hall
On Wednesday, October 30 at 7 PM in the gym the MRCS Board of Directors invites you to attend the Annual General Meeting. You should have been sent the AGM package last week. If you are available, please join us!
After the AGM, the Board invites you to stay for a Town Hall session for a time to discuss strategic planning and our vision for the school.
3. Christmas Market
The bin has been placed in the foyer and is ready for any donations! Please bring any new and like new items that you no longer need around the house.
Students will be able to purchase these items during our Christmas Market on Thursday, December 5 in the gym! All items will be priced at $2 and will be gift wrapped by our events team.
Any remaining items will be donated after the event. All funds raised will go to Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Christmas Hamper society to continue the theme of giving.
For any questions or concerns, please contact Jessica Marando.
4. Halloween Non-Event Reminder
As we approach the end of October, we want to share a reminder regarding our school’s approach to Halloween. As a Christian school community with families from diverse backgrounds, we aim to create an environment that reflects our shared values. In light of this, we do not hold Halloween celebrations or dress-up events involving costumes on the date of October 31.
The Grade 3 classes will be celebrating Nate the Great day that day and, as such, may be bringing costumes with them that connect to the novel. It has been communicated to these families that this dress up event connects directly to the novel they have finished and their big celebration even that day, not specifically to Halloween. They have been asked to bring the costumes with them to put on at school when the party begins to avoid confusion.
We appreciate your understanding and support in maintaining a welcoming space for all students. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our leadership team.
5. Pro-D Days – No School
This Friday, November 1, MRCS will be closed for an in-house Pro-D Day as staff discuss and learn about the next steps of Teaching for Transformation.
MRCS will also be closed on November 7 and 8 as staff gather for a professional development event offsite.
6. Remembrance Day Chapel
On Wednesday, November 6, we will be having a Remembrance Day chapel in the gym. Middle and High School students will take place at 8:35 AM and Elementary students at 10:45 AM.
Parents are invited to attend!
