Dear Families,
1. Walk-A-Thon
Thanks to your generosity, we have raised $14,753 in just FIVE DAYS! We have officially reached our first Milestone Motivator marker of $10,000 and our Grade 4 teacher Mr. Vos will be eating bugs at our end of school assembly in June.
Next teacher challenge will be unlocked when we reach $20,000. Keep going!
The MRCS Walk-A-Thon event will be on Friday, May 30 between 10:30 AM – 2:00 PM. We will be using the fundraising platform Raisely to keep track of donations received. Your child’s donation page is ready to be shared with friends, family, and loved ones. If you would like to increase the default goal of $150 for your child, you can raise that challenge and increase it on your donation profile page!
If you have not signed up yet, please look back for emails from our donor relations coordinator, Carolina Louback, regarding registration.
Our goal is to raise $50,000, with 90% of funds being directed towards our third floor building project. 10% will go towards the Friends in Need Food Bank.
Note: All donations received will be given a tax receipt.
The Walkathon will be 5 KM, with Kindergarteners walking just under 2 KM. Stations will be set out along the route.
2. Walkathon – Items in Need
Thanks to your prayers, support and generosity, we have opened the doors to our new building—but we’re not done yet! The third floor is still waiting to be transformed into a vibrant hub featuring a science lab, food lab, social spaces, and classrooms. We’re rallying together to make it happen on Friday, May 30.
We need a few key items to make the event run smoothly. If you have any of the following, we would love to borrow them on the day of the event:
- Canopies / Pop-up tents
- Tall orange pylons (for traffic control)
- Directional arrows
- Pylons/Traffic Signs
- Traffic control vests (for volunteers)
If you have any of these items, please email our events coordinator, Jessica Marando (). Thank you for supporting MRCS.
3. Grand Opening – Building Expansion
We are excited to invite you and your family to the opening of our building expansion on Saturday, June 14. This will be a community wide event, and a chance to celebrate what God has done for our school community. This building expansion has been long awaited, and we are excited to celebrate it with you!

4. Student Council Bake Sale
On Wednesday, May 7, our student council members will be hosting a Bake Sale in the Grand Hall. All funds raised for this event will go towards the Walkathon, so we may reach our target goal (and possibly beyond!) of $50,000.
5. Buddies
The last Buddies of the year will be this Wednesday, May 7. The theme will be “Honouring our Parents”, and elementary students will be paired with their middle and high school buddies.
6. MRCS Promotional Video
This Friday, May 9, MRCS will be working with a professional videographer to do some filming to update our marketing needs. The videographer will be on site to capture b-roll footage, which he can use to showcase life at school. We will do our best to minimize classroom disruptions and ensure all students and their families are comfortable with (or without) their children being on camera.
To support this effort on this day, we ask that students wear MRCS apparel, MRCS colours like blue, white, navy, or neutral colours (nothing bright like neon or red) and no big logos.
Thank you for your continued support.
7. Jump Rope for Heart — Thank You!
Thanks to all who supported the Jump Rope for Heart event! Together, our elementary students K-5 raised a total of $2893 with online and cash donations.
8. Hot Lunch
The next hot lunch will be OPA! on Thursday, May 15.
The deadline to order is Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Hot lunches can be purchased on Munch a Lunch altogether or week by week.
For any questions or concerns, please email .
We are still looking for sponsors! If you would like to sponsor a hot lunch, please use Hot Lunch Sponsorship Sign Up to sign up for a specific date. Should you wish to sponsor, we offer advertisements of your logo and website link. However, if you’re making a personal donation, there will be no advertisement but you will be issued a tax receipt.
