Building Update: December 19 Remote Learning Day for K-3 and High School

We are delighted to announce that we have reached an exciting new phase in the new building process. God has blessed us with the weather needed to pour the tilt panels for the walls of our new building over the month of November. As a result, those walls are slated to be put into place via crane the week of December 18-22, 2023.

On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, the wall panels that connect to the north wing of the current building will be put into place. In order to ensure the safety of our staff and students, that wing will be closed to all staff and students for the day.

As such, the following processes will be put into place for Tuesday, December 19, 2023:

  • Students in Grades K-3 will have the following two options:
      • They may stay home for the day
      • You may sign them up for our MRCS staff run Christmas Day Camp from 8:25 AM-2:55 PM at Burnett Fellowship
      • This includes Ms. Yan’s Grade 2 class for consistency at the K-3 level, even though their main classroom is not in that wing
      • Day Camp Details
        • MRCS K-3 staff will be on site at Burnett Fellowship to run various Christmas-themed activities and stations
        • Students will need to come to the camp with a packed lunch, proper footwear to participate in activities in the gymnasium, and a backup set of clothing in their bags in case their clothing gets wet or dirty
        • If students are registered for the Day Camp and are ill the morning of, parents will still need to contact the office regarding their attendance as per usual
  • Students in Grades 4-8 will have school on-site at Maple Ridge Christian School as per usual, as access to the parts of the building they normally operate out of will be fully available
    • Grades 6-8 will be off-site from 12:00-2:30 PM for their annual skating field trip in Langley
    • Grades 4 and 5 will operate as per their usual Tuesday schedule
  • High School students will have a remote learning day
    • HS teachers will ensure that the work students are responsible for on Tuesday, December 19, is posted to their Google Classrooms
    • Students will work from home. High School staff will be onsite in the Library Learning Commons and available for student questions regarding assignments via email
    • High School students may have the opportunity to support our K-3 Team with their Christmas themed Day Camp to earn volunteer hours if more support is needed
    • Mr. Davison may ask for the Grade 9 students who are in Band to come to the school to practice their concert pieces that day. He will communicate with those students closer to that day

We ask that parents of all students in Grades K-3 please complete the Google Form below indicating if your child(ren) will attend the Christmas Day Camp or stay home by Friday, December 1, 2023 in order to give us plenty of time to plan staffing and activities for the day.

We would like to thank Burnett Fellowship for providing us with an off-site space for our K-3 staff and students on December 19.
