Seeking Volunteers for May Middle School Exploratories

Dear Parents,

In May, the Middle School will be running a second round of exploratories. For these, we plan to have many more choices and smaller groups. With the weather being more favourable to be outside, there are many options. For this to work, we are calling upon parent and grandparent volunteers, in addition to our middle school staff, to run activities. Here is a list of some options:

  • 1st Aid
  • Cribbage
  • Chess
  • Tetris
  • Cricut
  • Cricket
  • Breakout Boxes
  • Crochet
  • Sewing
  • Baking
  • Cake Decorating
  • Golf
  • Cycling
  • Automotive
  • Team-building Games
  • Outdoor Games
  • Origami
  • Tennis
  • Pickleball
  • Photography
  • Hiking

What this would entail is a volunteer running an activity for 3 or 4 afternoon sessions on a selected day in May (i.e. every Tuesday afternoon). It would involve working with the same small group of students for every session. For example, let’s say a student’s grandfather is really into cribbage. He would run a crib session with the same group of kids for all 3 or 4 sessions. Keeping the same kids is really important for certain types of activities like sewing or first aid.

We know schedules are often full for many parents during the day. This is why we’d love to have grandparents get involved. We also know that there are a lot of talents within our community which would be a wonderful thing to share with our students.

If you or a grandparent can help out, please email one of the middle school staff over the next couple of months. Your support is greatly appreciated.
