Dear MRCS Parent Society Members,
Over the past few years, many of you have invested time and thoughtful attention into conversations related to sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, and how these intersect with the mission and foundational beliefs of Maple Ridge Christian School.
As a next step in this process, we are sharing a short video recap that brings together the core elements previously presented through the three pre-town hall videos and the Fall 2023 town hall. This recap is intended to provide a clear, shared frame of reference as we prepare for the next phase of this work.
The video briefly reviews:
- The foundational biblical beliefs that anchor MRCS
- Our duty of care and legal responsibilities as a Christian independent school
- The role of policy, guidelines, and curriculum
- The importance of distinguishing between position and posture
- How this work has progressed under the oversight of the Board
- A brief overview of the principles outlining the draft policy.
This video is meant to ensure we are grounded in a common understanding before the Board shares a draft policy in the coming week prior to our Town Hall.
Finally, as a point of reference, the previous videos outlining the key scope can be found here:
Video 1: MRCS Foundational Beliefs
Video 2: Duty of Care and Legal Considerations
Video 3: Curricular and Guidelines Overview
As previously communicated, the Board will be hosting a guided town hall on February 5, which will provide an opportunity for society members to review and discuss the draft policy together. Sharing this recap in advance allows space for reflection and prayer ahead of that conversation.
We recognize that these topics can feel weighty and personal. Our hope is that this recap helps reaffirm both the care with which this work has been approached and our shared commitment to seeing Maple Ridge Christian School continue to flourish as a Christ-centred community.
Thank you for walking with us in this process and for your continued prayers, engagement, and trust.
