Reminder about HS Assessments January 21 & 22

A reminder that Wednesday, January 21 and Thursday, January 22 are High School Assessment Days for students in Grades 9-12. These are full school days, focused on structured study blocks and scheduled assessments to help students finish Semester 1 strong. Attendance will be taken both days.

Please note that Friday, January 23 is a day off for high school students for semester turnaround.

Thank you for supporting students by helping them arrive on time, well rested, and ready to do their best.

You’re Invited to the Spelling Bee on January 28

We’re excited to invite families to attend the MRCS Spelling Bee, where students from grade 4-8 will represent their classes after weeks of practice and preparation.

Each grade has selected four finalists, and these students will compete on behalf of their classmates in a fun and encouraging event.

Parking/Traffic Reminders

We have been in contact with the City of Maple Ridge regarding ongoing concerns around traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. We appreciate your cooperation in helping keep our community safe and respectful.

Please ensure you are following all traffic regulations and showing courtesy to our neighbours by:

  • Not blocking driveways
  • Obeying all no parking signage
  • Allowing through traffic to pass
  • Remembering that traffic flow in the parking lot is one-way
→ Please do not exit through the entrance

Pick-Up Line Reminder:

The pick-up line must keep moving. Please do not wait in the pick-up line for more than one minute. If your child is not ready, please go around the block or park in a designated spot. Parking lot attendants will begin actively enforcing this to ensure continuous traffic flow.

Additional reminders:

  • Do not park or drop off students along 204B Avenue
  • Wicklund Avenue is a school zone — 30 km/hr
  • Please respect the stop signs in the neighbourhood
  • Do not cut into the drop-off lane
  • Please leave the reserved parking spots for families that won these spots in the auction

If you are only picking up Middle or High School students, we strongly encourage arriving after 3:10 PM when congestion has eased.

Thank you for helping keep our students, staff, and neighbours safe.

MRCS Community Cookbook – Recipe Submissions Reminder

As part of a school-wide Teaching for Transformation project, students are helping create a student-produced MRCS Community Cookbook that celebrates food, faith, and family traditions. Through library learning and Grade 8 buddy support, students have been reflecting on how meals tell stories and bring people together.

We invite families to participate by submitting a meaningful family recipe (perhaps the one your child shared at school), including ingredients and instructions. Families are also welcome to include a short prayer or blessing and an optional photo.

📌 The sooner recipes are submitted, the better.
Our goal is to have the cookbook ready for Grandfriends Day on February 27, so early submissions are greatly appreciated.

All proceeds from the cookbook will support the creation of our new Foods Lab on the third floor, helping students continue learning through food, service, and community.

📧 How to submit:
Digital recipes, prayers, and optional photos can be emailed to .
Permission details are included on the form sent home through classrooms.

Thank you for partnering with us in this meaningful project that connects family traditions, faith, and learning.
