May 30, 2025

This year, students in grades 1-12 walked 5 kilometres (kindergarten walked 2 kilometres) to bring awareness to Christian Education and raise funds to complete the third floor of our new building.

A dollar of every $10 raised donated was donated to our local Friends In Need Food Bank in Maple Ridge!

Our Stories

walkathon-fundraising-1

Two brothers. One lemonade & freezie stand. One big goal.

During the first weekend of May, the Johannson brothers took fundraising into their own hands—with a sweet little stand to support our Walkathon and help complete the third floor of our school!

Their creativity and generosity are a beautiful reminder that you’re never too young to make a difference.

Little Hands, Big Hearts, Bigger Goals

This month, Bo, a determined Grade 1 student decided to take Walkathon fundraising into his own hands—with a carton of eggs and a whole lot of heart.

Given a goal of $150, he didn’t just accept it—he expanded it. Setting his sights on $375, he began selling the extra eggs from his family’s chickens to friends, neighbours, and anyone willing to support the dream of completing the third floor of our school.

A Young Virtuoso Making a Big Difference

This past weekend, Grade 2 student Andy took his musical talents to the Farmer’s Market in a truly inspiring way—busking to raise money for our Walkathon and the completion of the third floor of our school.

At just 7 years old, Andy is already a seasoned performer. Last year, he won first place in a violin solo competition at the age of 6, and now, he’s become a little virtuoso in our community. His performance at the market was nothing short of amazing, leaving everyone in awe of his talent and heart.

Serving Up Sweetness and Support for Our School

Three friends from Grades 6, Annie, Adelynn, and Lené, teamed up with a shared goal and some serious entrepreneurial spirit.

With a stand full of lemonade, cookies, and freezies, they welcomed neighbours and friends, shared about our cause, and turned an afternoon of fun into real impact.

Turning Empties Into Impact: A Walkathon Effort

After running a lemonade stand with friends, Annie was back at it again—this time teaming up with her brother Emery for a different kind of Walkathon fundraiser.

Armed with a couple of bags, and a lot of determination, the siblings collected bottles and cans to raise funds for the completion of the third floor of our school.

Every can and bottle added up—not just toward their fundraising goal, but toward something even greater: A school built on the small, faithful efforts of students who care deeply.

Rainbow Looms & Big Dreams

When it comes to creativity and heart, Jaycee from Grade 2 has it in spools—of rainbow loom bands, that is.

Inspired by our Walkathon and the vision of completing the third floor of Maple Ridge Christian School, Jaycee decided to turn her crafting hobby into a mission. With fingers nimble and purpose clear, she’s been making and selling rainbow loom bracelets to family, friends, and classmates—all to raise money for the school she loves.

Her bracelets come in every colour you can imagine, but behind each one is a single thread: generosity.

The van Emmenis Siblings’ Bottle Drive

At Maple Ridge Christian School, we’ve been inspired by the creativity and commitment our students have shown during this walkathon fundraiser. One standout example is the effort of the van Emmenis siblings, who decided to take action in a unique and hands-on way: they organized a bottle drive to support the campaign.

Their goal was to raise money for the completion of the third floor of our new building extension, and they wanted to do more than just ask for donations. With the support of their family, they collected bottles and cans from their neighborhood, turning recyclables into real progress for our school.

Creativity and Initiative

Shout out to Grace, one of our amazing grade 3 students, who truly went above and beyond this past weekend. Grace set up a stand on her driveway and sold her homemade soap to raise money for the walkathon! Her creativity, initiative, and heart for her school are what this campaign is all about.
