Hello Parents,
Collaborative parent/student/teacher goal setting as a part of our process of communicating student learning and growth. This approach involves a goal setting collaboration between parents, students, and teachers.
Each classroom teacher will be sharing a goal setting template that they feel is age and grade appropriate. This goals worksheet is mandatory for all K-7 families and is essential for supporting the growth and development of your child in collaboration with your child’s teacher(s). Please use this template from your teacher to have a discussion with your child regarding goals for his/her development throughout the 2024-2025 school year.
Here are some details about the 2024-2025 Student Goals Worksheet:
- This year, as was the case last year, your child’s teacher has worked with his/her division to develop a more age-appropriate goals sheet.
- Your child’s teacher may have class goals that he/she is setting to work through with your child. These will be clearly established on the goals sheet.
- You will also be asked to work with your child to create between 1-3 goals for this school year, depending on his/her age.
- Your child’s goals can be chosen from the list provided, or you can come up with your own.
- Your child’s teacher will send home the goals sheet on Monday, October 7, 2024.
- We ask that you return the Student Goals Worksheet to your child’s teacher by Tuesday, October 15, 2024.
The goals will be discussed as an overall part of the regular parent/teacher interviews in November. The sign-up for these sessions will be coming in November.
We look forward to seeing your child thrive as s/he strives to reach these goals and celebrate his/her achievements in his/her digital portfolio. Your child’s teacher is in the process of sharing your child’s digital portfolio with you. If you have not received a sign-up to myBlueprint, please contact his/her teacher.
Please expect to see your child’s K-7 progress report, which is a snapshot of his/her learning and social/emotional development thus far, in November.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Stacy Sowerby
Vice Principal of Learning and Programs K-12
