Family members: Meeka – Mother, Ridd – Father, Brinn – older sister, Eero – younger brother, Aven – cousin
Hobbies or past times: I really enjoy singing and writing songs because I can write about whatever I want. It is such a good creative outlet and helps me process my feelings as well. It’s also really fun to make up something for a song too. There is so much creative freedom!
Core Competency I developed in my time at MRCS: Social Responsibility: One Core Competency I have developed is social responsibility. I have really grown in my awareness of my responsibility as a Christian and also a human being in classes like Social Justice. I feel much more aware of topics like poverty and sex trafficking. I feel confident to debate and share my knowledge with others to hopefully help towards making the world a better place.
Biblical Through-line: God-Worshipper: I have developed as a God-worshipper. I was given the opportunity to sing on the worship team, and I have discovered that my way of worshipping God is through music! For devotionals at home, I take out my guitar and sing along to worship music, and that is when I feel the closest to God.
How my time at MRCS developed my relationship with God and with others: Growing up in MRCS has helped me make lifelong friends. I am so close with my class and my teachers, and I know wherever I am in life, I can always reach out to them and they will greet me with open arms. My faith and relationship with God would not be what it is without MRCS. They have laid down an excellent foundation for my faith and I can’t wait for it to grow and to see what God has in store for me.
A highlight from my time at MRCS: A highlight from my time at MRCS is definitely Esperanza. After my final and fourth year going, it is easy for me to say that going to Esperanza is my favourite part of MRCS. A specific memory is running around on the ferry home with Ciarra and Elliot, having a photoshoot during golden hour.
Future plans for after graduation: I would like to take a gap year to work and make money, as well as to think about possible post-secondary plans. I would like to pursue music as a career. I have plans to move out as soon as I have enough money, and go to somewhere far awaylike Calgary to continue working and making music. I also want to go on a road trip with my sister and cousin.
One thing about MRCS that I want others to know: Everyone I meet tells me that I’m different. When they ask why, I tell them it is 100% my school. MRCS teaches children to love and accept everybody who walks through it’s door, and to be comfortable in and embrace being yourself.
