Family members: Marina – Mother, Igor – Father
Hobbies or past times: I really enjoy painting, it relieves me from any stress, and gives me a chance to express myself creatively.
Core Competency I developed in my time at MRCS: Personal and Social Awareness: Having the unique experience of joining MRCS for grade 12 developed a social competency of friendship-building and relational connections being made. I think this was a great chance for me to expand my circle of friends as I got to know the students of MRCS. I felt so blessed by everyone’s acceptance and love towards me. I kept growing in my ability to communicate and interconnect with amazing people and supportive friends.
Biblical Through-line I developed in my time at MRCS: Creation-Caretaker: I think for me, I can start with the small things like becoming a conscience consumer and being aware of the waste I create everyday that adds to this global problem. I have learned so much after reading about what others do in order to become better creation-caretakers and even challenged myself this year to become a minimalist so that I could stop spending money on useless things. I have also been taught about fast-fashion, what the industry involves, and the negatives that come along.
How my time at MRCS developed my relationship with God and with others: Going to a public school for a long time it was hard to overcome temptations and preventing negative influences to come my way, but things got a lot better for me when I transferred to a school that taught and reminded me about God’s love and grace everyday. Cutting off sin is not easy, but once God fearing people surrounded me, it was a lot easier to thrive in an environment that wants to help you and forces you to stay accountable.
A highlight from my time at MRCS: My favourite moments were the high school camp because it was a great opportunity for me to meet new people and make friends, but I also enjoyed our grad breakfast as we got to open up the letters our parents wrote for us.
Future plans for after graduation: After I graduate I plan on going to Simon Fraser University for their Political Science program starting this fall 2020. I am not quite sure what the future will bring, but I am very excited for this next chapter of my life!
One thing about MRCS that I want others to know: MRCS is a school that goes above and beyond when it comes to our education and community growth, and I am so very blessed and grateful to have been a part of it!
