The MRCS Clothing Store
Our new online clothing store is open for business! We have eight products for sale that either feature the Hornets or our school logo. Every design is available in child or adult sizes. If your family needs MRCS gear, make sure you get your order in by Thursday, October 15 (this first round of clothing orders may take up to 3 weeks to process).
When you click the MAKE PAYMENT button, you will have the option of paying via a PayPal account or using a credit card:
Once the orders are at the school, we will send the clothing home with the student you indicated on the checkout form or you can make an appointment to pick up your order at the school office.
If you have any questions or feedback, please contact Stephanie Carroll at firstname.lastname@example.org or 604.465.4442. Happy shopping!
*Note to Grade 4 parents: We will continue to offer free PE shirts to Grade 4 students! Current Grade 4 parents were emailed a coupon code to order a PE shirt through the online store. If you did not receive this email, please contact Stephanie Carroll.
Terry Fox Run
On Wednesday, September 30, our school will participate in the annual Terry Fox Run! This year marks the 40th anniversary of Terry Fox’s historic Canadian marathon. We have designated neighbourhood running/walking routes to ensure that students remain with the students and staff of their assigned learning group. We ask that families send $2 (or more) with each child as a contribution to the cancer research done in Terry Fox’s name. Due to the current health and safety restrictions, parents are unable to participate in this year’s run, but you are invited to test your Terry trivia knowledge below:
- How many days did Terry run?
- What did he call his run?
- Where did Terry begin his run?
- Where did Terry end his run?
- How many kilometres did Terry run each day?
- How old was Terry when he died?
- How many kilometres did Terry run in total?
Answers: 1) 143; 2) Marathon of Hope; 3) St. John’s, Nfld; 4) Thunder Bay Ontario; 5) 42 km; 6) 22 years old; 7) 5373 km
Grade 6/7H Teacher Update
At the start of this school year, Mrs. Olding came to MRCS to cover the remainder of Ms. Brown’s maternity leave from September to December. Just recently, Mrs. Olding was offered a permanent position that is immediately available at Trinity Western University. We congratulate Mrs. Olding on attaining this new job placement and wish her well in her educational career.
In the meantime, we are pleased to announce that Mrs. Holdcroft (a well-loved teacher who often returns to MRCS for needed teaching roles) will be in the Grade 6/7H classroom starting the first week of October.
Let the Office Know
If your child is going to be late/absent or if s/he will have to leave school during the day — let the office know! Please call 604.465.4442 or email (email@example.com) the office to explain why your child is missing school and have it properly recorded. Students who are leaving during the school day need to go to the front office to sign out before leaving the building.
Dress for the Weather
These days, it may be pouring, sunny, and windy all within one morning! Please send your children dressed for whatever weather may come their way during the school day. We encourage outside time as much as possible and we don’t want students uncomfortable outdoors because they are unprepared. We appreciate your help in this matter.

MRCS Board Town Hall Meeting
Much has changed in our world over the past few months and the MRCS Board of Directors has been working hard to discern how our school should respond to this current reality. After much prayer and many discussions from March to September, the MRCS Board has an update regarding strategic decisions and future plans for Maple Ridge Christian School. This information will be presented in an upcoming town hall meeting over Zoom, so you can easily attend from home and ask any questions you might have. The Board is excited to share these next steps with you and appreciates your involvement in our school community.
Date: Wednesday, September 30, 2020
Time: 7:00 PM
Access: The Zoom will be emailed to current MRCS families tomorrow afternoon.

New Daily Health Assessment
Earlier this month, the BCCDC refined the list of symptoms that prevent students from attending school. This revised list is reduced and states that students and staff must stay home if they have:
- Fever (at or over 37.5 degrees)
- New cough or worsening of chronic cough
- Loss of sense of smell or taste
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Nausea and vomiting
- Travelled outside of the country within the last 14 days
- Had contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19
If your child does not display any of the above symptoms, s/he is able to attend class.
Blast from the Past
We decided to celebrate last Thursday by putting this throwback photo online. It generated some great discussion on Facebook and Instagram.
