Remembrance Day Chapel
We usually have a Remembrance Day Chapel that includes the greater MRCS community, but things are not happening the usual way this year. Instead, our students and staff created a video version of this year’s Remembrance Day Chapel that will be shown in all of our classrooms tomorrow. Poppies will be handed out in remembrance of those who have served our nation in times of war and times of peace. If you are able to send your child(ren) with a donation for Canadian veterans, it would be greatly appreciated.

No Classes Wednesday to Friday This Week
Classes are not in session from Wednesday to Friday this week due to the Remembrance Day statutory holiday and two subsequent Pro-D Days. We hope you all have a safe and enjoyable super long weekend!
Access to Friday Chapels
Other than this week, when classes are not in session, there is usually a Friday chapel. In a typical school year, these chapels are open for all to attend. Since that is not possible this year, we are going to start emailing our current MRCS families the livestream chapel link every Friday morning.
Last week, we sent out the chapel link, but we lost the feed part way through. We appreciate your patience as we sort out the technical details and hope that this is a welcome way for you to join in on the chapel experience.
If you know of grandparents or other family members who would also like to view the chapels, please feel free to forward them the link when you get it on Friday morning.
If you ordered MRCS clothing, the items will be ready to distribute next week. The orders will either be sent home with the indicated students or they can be picked up at the office by making an appointment (firstname.lastname@example.org or 604.465.4442).
Grades 6-9 Immunizations Update
Please note that Public Health will commence the School Immunization Program for this year’s Grade 6 and 9 students in January 2021.
Public Health will also provide catch-up immunizations to students who did not complete their immunizations last school year or over the summer.
If you have any questions, please contact your local public health unit.

COVID Protocol Reminders
We have tried our best to make the current COVID protocols as “normal” as possible. Over the past two months, the students and staff have adapted quickly and the school days have been going well. We need to remain vigilant in order to stay this course and would like to bring your attention to two specific areas:
- SCHOOL PLAYGROUND: The school playground is a reserved space for a specific cohort at our school and is not intended to be a shared space at this time. We continue to ask that parents and students refrain from using the school playground before or after school.
- MASK WEARING: All middle and high school students are required to wear masks when in communal areas such as the parking lot, school grounds, and inside hallways/bathrooms. If a Grade 6-12 student arrives at school without a mask, s/he can pick up a mask at the school office.
For further information, please reference our: MRCS Health and Safety Plan »
Although we are not able to have parent volunteers inside the school building this year, we are in need of noon-hour supervisors out on the school grounds. We are looking for help Monday to Friday from 11:45 AM to 12:45 PM. If you are available to volunteer for one or more of these shifts, please contact Stephanie Carroll at email@example.com or 604.465.4442.
Let the Office Know
If your child is going to be late/absent or if s/he will have to leave school during the day — let the office know! Please call 604.465.4442 or email (firstname.lastname@example.org) the office to explain why your child is missing school to have it properly recorded. Students who are leaving during the school day need to go to the front office to sign out before leaving the school.

Celebrating Mr. Steve!
Mr. Steve (as the students like to call him) received lots of well-deserved accolades on our social media last week. We mentioned how Steve is a Facilities Manager who knows how to get the job done. He is also a servant-hearted person who loves to help others and is known for being endlessly resourceful.
