About

Maple Ridge Christian School operates as a registered society and non-profit organization.

Here are 10 facts about how our governance works.

  1. Maple Ridge Christian School has a legal name. It is “Haney-Pitt Meadows Christian School Association.”
  2. We are a registered society under the Society Act of British Columbia.
  3. We are governed by two legal documents—our Constitution and Bylaws.
  4. The Constitution outlines our mandate to provide Christian education that is directed by God’s all-powerful Word.
  5. The By-laws outline the nitty-gritty of how we operate, including membership and the role of our Board of Trustees.
  6. The members of the Haney-Pitt Meadows Christian Association are parents whose children attend the school. But a person can apply to the Board of Trustees and pay a yearly fee to become a member.
  7. The members of the Haney-Pitt Meadows Christian Association elect the Board of Trustees.
  8. The Board of Trustees set the vision for the school and are mandated by our bylaws to:
    1. Execute and regulate the School polices in accordance with our Constitution
    2. Appoint a qualified principal and teaching staff
    3. Assure that the educational policies of the Society are carried out
    4. Devise ways to obtain the necessary funds for operating the School and determine how these funds are administered
    5. Propagate the cause of Christian education in the community through all appropriate means
  9. Members participate in governance by attending General Meetings, asking questions and voting on the business presented.
  10. Members participate in governance by participating in a Committee or by running for a position on the Board of Trustees.

Board Roles

Our Board consists of nine members and are elected to serve a three-year term.

Committees

Our Board provides leadership and direction through several important committees. Here is an overview of what these committees are and what they do:

Education Committee

The Education Committee is responsible for ensuring excellence in Christian education and for evaluating and supporting the school’s programs and policies. The committee is made up of a Board member, administration, teachers and society members.

Human Resources Committee

The Human Resources Committee is responsible for the administration of all policies related to administrative, teaching and support staff. This includes recruiting, compensation, benefit management and more. The committee is made up of Board members and staff.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets four times a year and makes recommendations to the Board regarding the budget, financial reports, tuition schedules, etc. The committee is made up of the Board Treasurer, Financial Business Manager and society members.

Marketing and Development Committee

The Marketing and Development Committee is responsible for the development of new and current fundraising events and assists in the organization of the Welcome Back Barbeque, the Dinner & Auction and the Family Fun Fair. The committee is made up of a Board member, the Development Coordinator and society members.

 Maintenance / Facilities Committee

The Maintenance Committee is responsible for the maintenance and adequacy of school building, grounds and equipment. The committee is made up of two Board and society members.
